Enabling a founder to step back


Challenge

A successful and profitable agency had hit a ceiling at around £1m in revenue. The founder was still heavily involved in every aspect of the business – from new business and delivery to hiring and training. With no leadership support in place, the business’s growth potential was constrained by the founder’s bandwidth. The founder was overwhelmed, working long hours, and struggling to delegate meaningfully, despite knowing the current model wasn’t sustainable.

Andy’s Intervention

Andy worked with the founder to identify the structural limitations in the business and design a new leadership model that would enable scale. Together, they led the recruitment of a commercial and operational Managing Director. Andy helped define the MD’s role and skillset, supported the search and interview process, and coached both the founder and the new MD during the transition. He also worked on building a senior team beneath the MD, enabling clearer lines of ownership and execution.

Impact

Revenue has since tripled, with the new MD still in place and thriving. The founder has stepped back significantly, now focusing on areas of strategic value where he adds the most impact. With a confident, empowered senior team in place, the business is growing sustainably – with less dependency on one individual.
