Managing change and legacy behaviours


Challenge

An experienced CEO faced major disruption: two senior leaders left the business at the same time, and the market was shifting fast in how clients procured agency services. On top of that, legacy behaviours from the early days of the business were beginning to clash with the expectations of a newer team. There was a risk of stalling — or worse, eroding the agency’s position in a competitive sector.

Andy’s Intervention

Over a three-year period, Andy worked closely with the CEO to unpack the root causes of friction and loss of momentum. Together, they explored how the CEO’s longstanding habits were unintentionally blocking others from taking ownership. Andy helped the CEO reframe their leadership role, let go of unhelpful patterns, and rebuild trust and autonomy across the senior team. The coaching also supported product innovation and service evolution to respond to the shifting market.

Impact

The agency pivoted successfully and has re-established itself as a leader in its field. The CEO now operates with more distance from the day-to-day, supported by a stronger, more empowered leadership team. Cultural alignment has improved dramatically, and the business is well-positioned for future growth.
